Marinated flank steak was always a crowd-pleaser in our household growing up. And while the meat alone may satisfy carnivorous cravings, marinating the steak overnight in honey, soy sauce and ginger will serve to kick up the juiciness. Grilling the steak on a pannini rather than a barbecue will provide an evenly heated cooking surface while also sealing in the multiple flavors of the marinade.
Yield: 4 servings Prep Time: 10 min Cook Time: 15 min 1½ - 2 lb. flank steak Place the gallon-size baggie inside a bowl and open it so that it fits around the edges. Mix together the soy sauce, honey and cider vinegar in the baggie. Crush the garlic cloves and chop the green onion. Add both ingredients plus the finely grated fresh ginger to the baggie. Add the Canola oil and mix well. Place the flank steak inside the bag and seal it. Allow the meat to marinate overnight. Place the marinated steak on the pannini and grill it for 4 minutes on one side and then flip it and grill for an additional 4 minutes on the other side. Allow the meat to rest for several minutes before slicing on the diagonal and serving. Helpful hint: If you are using a barbecue, grill the steak for 2 minutes on each side then turn off the gas and close the cover. Grill the meat for 4 minutes with the cover closed and then allow it to rest before slicing.
