There’s only one thing that rivals my love for cooking … and that’s photographing food. Capturing food in a way that portrays it as both real and appetizing can be an art form. I could spend hours (and admittedly, I have) shooting frame after frame of different dishes. It’s relaxing, it allows me to be creative and it can provide a product – styled or untouched – that is naturally beautiful.
Street fairs are my favorite spot to photograph food because there’s such a variety of textures, flavors and colors. I shot the candied grapes (top image) and then turned around to find a smoking hot grill of stacked fresh pita and gyros. Street fairs let you travel the culinary world within a 5-block radius, tasting your way from Thailand’s Pra Ram to France’s crepes to Mexico’s arepas.
