There are few words to describe 2020. It was an unprecedented year (as an understatement) in so many regards. The hopes, dreams and wishes of so many were changed, postponed or, even worse, canceled.

Amidst the hunkering down and the distancing, many found comfort in a space they perhaps didn’t realize was their happy place after all: the kitchen.

When March rolled around, we had visions of a celebratory spring, with festive holiday gatherings among dozens of family and friends. Instead, we found solace in no-yeast breads and pantry staples, and cooking for two rather than 20.

Thank you for allowing me into your home, albeit virtually, during these most stressful and scary of times.

Reading your tens of thousands of recipe reviews and social media messages made me realize just how connected our Just a Taste community truly is. And I am thankful for each and every one of you who took the time to use this website, spend the money on groceries, cook the meals and share the creations coming out of your kitchens.

While a large grey cloud will forever loom over the year that was 2020, I think it’s important to recognize the good that did shine through. Personally, I welcomed my third son, Dean, in August, which brought so much joy to our family.

I also witnessed how brave and selfless our countless healthcare heroes are, including my brother, who has been on the front lines helping others since day 1. My heartfelt thanks goes out to all medical professionals, as well as essential workers in every field.

Despite the chaos and uncertainty, I am thankful to reminisce on three particularly memorable career moments this past year.

I revealed the cover of my forthcoming debut cookbook, The Secret Ingredient Cookbook, which is now available for pre-order. The book has been an 8-year labor of love and I could not be more proud or excited for you to have it in your hands.
