Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 (1-oz.) package dried onion soup mix, such as Lipton’s
  • 1 (12-count) pack Hawaiian sweet slider rolls
  • 8 slices Sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons white sesame seeds

Instructions

  • In a large skillet set over medium-high heat, add the ground beef and onion soup mix. Cook, breaking the meat apart with a spatula, until it is no longer pink. Carefully drain any grease from the pan.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Halve the rolls widthwise and place the bottom half on the baking sheet. Arrange four slices of cheese in a single layer atop the rolls.
  • Using a slotted spoon, transfer the meat onto the cheese then place the remaining four slices of cheese atop the ground beef.
  • Place the top half of the rolls on the sliders. Brush the tops of the rolls with the melted butter then sprinkle with the sesame seeds.
  • Bake the rolls until the cheese is melted and the rolls are toasted, about 10 minutes, then serve.

Notes

  • Make Ahead: These Hawaiian roll sliders can be assembled up to 24 hours ahead, covered tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerated. (To save even more time, the ground beef and onion mixture can be cooked up to 2 days in advance and stored in an airtight container in the fridge.) Wait to brush the tops with melted butter until just before baking. When you're ready to serve, take off the plastic wrap, brush the rolls with butter, sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake as directed. Since the sliders will be cold, you may need to add a few extra minutes to the baking time to ensure the beef is warmed through and the cheese is perfectly gooey.
