Kelly’s Monthly Edit: March 2026

Welcome to Kelly’s Monthly Edit!
Join me every month as I round up the little joys that sparked inspiration, from must-make recipes and Mom-approved grocery finds to favorite products in kitchenware, skincare, fashion and beyond. Consider this your behind-the-scenes bite of life at Just a Taste—no gatekeeping, just good taste.

And that’s a wrap on an unseasonably warm March here in La Jolla, CA. San Diego gave us a spring that feels like summer in disguise—long days, warm breezes and that ocean-blue glow made all the more enticing by Daylight Saving’s extended hours.

Like Mother… Like Daughter

This month I was honored to receive the Ellen Browning Scripps Distinguished Alumni Award at The Bishop’s School, where I attended both middle and high school. It was a humbling reminder of the team behind the scenes and the support of family that makes moments like this possible. As business owner and mom of four, it truly takes a village to juggle all the responsibilities of a career and motherhood. My work-life balance isn’t perfect, but it’s always a work in progress.

I was looking through photos I’d taken in March and stopped in my tracks when I realized that the outfit Mia wore to my dad’s birthday celebration was nearly identical to the outfit I wore a few weeks later at the award ceremony. The (working girl) apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!

Take Me Out to the Laundry Room

If you follow along on Instagram, you’ll know I’ve been on a year-long crusade to ban white baseball pants from youth sports. (I kid… but only slightly.) At the rate my two oldest boys are going, we will be through a dozen pairs each by mid-season. Grass stains, dirt stains, gaping holes—my washing machine and muscle power is no match for athletic apparel.

So hear me out: disposable baseball pants. You wear them once, you toss them after. We can even make them biodegradable and… white. A mom can dream.

And speaking of baseball season… MLB Opening Day arrived and our house erupted with joy. We are diehard San Diego Padres fans and Mia made sure to let her team allegiance be known well before that first pitch was thrown out.

This cute dress, which comes in a variety of team colors, is from the MLB Shop.

Seafood Favorites, Home and Away

I didn’t grow up eating fish. It just wasn’t one of Noni’s favorite meals to cook (safe to say there were a million others!), so I didn’t really start eating salmon until I turned 30. We even shot a whole YouTube episode about my salmon journey, aptly titled Salmon for People Who Hate Salmon.

Now, I’m 2 for 4 when it comes to my kids eating salmon so I’ll take any chance I can get to pick up my favorite Faroe Islands salmon from El Pescador, a spectacular fish market in La Jolla. I always use my go-to salmon recipe, which pairs great with Creamy Coconut Rice.

When I’m not roasting salmon at home, you can find me ordering anything and everything off the menu at The Fishery, a San Diego institution. Chef Mike Reidy serves up seasonal spins on classic seafood, plus some of the best salads on the planet. Ten out of 10. Do not miss it!
