    1. Hi Kristin! I’d recommend just leaving it at room temp overnight rather than the refrigerator because the chocolate could develop some light condensation on the surface.

I’m planning to make this tomorrow as a Snack Attack library program (pre-recorded video). I’m a Teen Services Librarian, and I do a series where I teach teens how to make easy snacks or meals. I think this is going to be a big hit for Halloween! Thanks for the idea!

  2. 5 stars
Have made this 3 years (not consecutive). It’s always a big hit and I give a lot away to friends & family. I’ve tended not to use peanut butter cups due to allergy concerns but use kit kats, mini m&ms, the (small) wilton eyeballs and candy corn.

      1. I use almond bark, found everywhere, I use walmart great value brand anytime I’m dipping pretzels or any chocolate treat. Melts and coats perfectly. Just so smooth. Their white chocolate, technically vanilla almond bark is amazing. Look for this in the baking section near the chocolate chips. Large block that reminds me of an ice cube tray made of chocolate. Just break off what you need.
Great recipe, thanks. I used kit kat minis, reeses minis, halloween sprinkles and reeses pieces. Oh yeah and the candy eyes. Possibilities are endless. Think of all the variations for each holiday.

Served this at our Halloween party this past weekend, and everyone commented on how cute it was. Plus, it was delicious!

  4. Such a cute an awesome idea and it could really be done for any holiday. I would love to see your take on a Christmas themed chocolate bark. Thanks for the blog!

    1. Hi Sandy! I prefer bittersweet since the candy toppings themselves are already very sweet. But you can use whatever chocolate you prefer :)

    1. Hi there, Amy! You could freeze the bark, however you will want to wrap it and store it in an airtight container. When you are ready to enjoy it, remove it from the freezer and place in the refrigerator to thaw. This will help lessen the likelihood of condensation forming, which alters the appearance and texture of the bark. Hope that helps!

  5. Hi,

I just thought I would send a quick note of thanks. I came across one of your great Halloween crafts and have used it in my Halloween craft ideas round up (with a link to you of course!) on my new blog.

  6. If you click on the eye ball candy in her overview it will take you to Amazon and you can purchase the candy.

  7. Your idea is just adorable (in a spooky way)! I saw it on Pinterest, but with no link to the recipe, so I had to track it down. Thank you for sharing your clever idea. Can’t wait to try it!

  8. Do you know what you could use in place of parchment paper? I’m thinking maybe wax paper…

    Thanks :) looks really yummy

    1. Hi Pat! I used a very sharp chef’s knife. I wouldn’t recommend heating the knife, as the chocolate will melted instantly. If anything, you can leave the chocolate in the fridge for awhile then slice or break it. Hope that helps!

  9. A perfect treat for my Senior Center at our Halloween party! They will love it and am certain that the recipe will go home with many. I’ll copy recipe & attach to sm gift bags as a take home treat as well. Thanks so much for this unique & creative idea, have been searching for something fun and delicious to take to party, this is it!

    1. Hello! You could definitely make this bark using dried fruits, but the juice from fresh fruit could cause the chocolate to seize. Hope this helps!

  10. I tried these this morning. Very good and easy to do. I did not have eyeballs so I made so from fondant icing. However, it was “difficult” to cut without the candies “going everywhere”. But I’m sure everyone will enjoy this treat :D

    Thanks for the recipe

  11. Looks Beautiful! Does it have to harden in the fridge? I had a bad experience putting some similar candies (chocolate base wit/pomegranate seeds) in the fridge. Chocolate got all wet from condensation. Maybe it’s only because of the pomegranate…

    1. Hi Tali – Refrigerating it will speed up the hardening process. I’ve never experienced condensation forming with this recipe, so it may have been the juice from the pomegranate seeds in your other recipe.

    1. Hi Lexi – I don’t like the taste of candy melts and prefer chocolate, but feel free to use them if you like the taste!

  12. I LOVE this idea. So stinking cute. Is the bittersweet chocolate necessary? I don’t think I have ever used it in a bark but it seems like I would prefer something sweeter. I don’t love semi sweet chips even because they have a slightly bitter taste. But maybe if I used milk chocolate it would just be too sweet? Sorry for my ignorance. :)

    1. You can use whatever chocolate you can find, Laurel! I prefer bittersweet since the candy toppings themselves are already very sweet :)

  13. the recipe as pictured is not gluten free. If you advertise a recipe as such, the picture should reflect the intention of the recipe. Kit kats are not gluten free, and some other candies pictured may not be as well.

  14. This is just too irresistible! Like everyone else, I HAVE to make it. Good thing I have all those things on hand!

  15. The eyeballs totally make it! We love chocolate bark, but I’ve never thought of adding candy — thanks for sharing this great idea!

  16. These are so cute! I love those little eyes peering out, and the colours really pop. Love it!

  17. My niece will surely get excited looking at these attractive candies bark. I will try this recipe very soon.
Can’t wait to see the expression on her face. She is 4 yr old.
Thanks a lot for such excellent share.

  18. I can’t wait to make this for my Son and his friends. And it’s easy too! I’m as excited to make it as they will be to receive it.
