Celebrate Cinco de Mayo (or any Taco Tuesday!) with simply refreshing Skinny Margarita Popsicles made with just four ingredients.
Interested in drinking your margarita and eating it, too? You’ve come to the right place! I’ve lightened up the classic margarita, simplified the mix and frozen it into popsicle molds for a truly celebratory drink on-a-stick.
We’re talking four basic ingredients that are mixed up into the most refreshing blend:
- Lime juice
- Orange juice
- Honey
- Tequila
How Do You Make a Skinny Margarita?
The trick to mixing up these lighter, less sugary skinny margaritas is nixing the triple sec in favor of fresh orange juice. This will make sure the flavors are bright without the added sugar and calories from the sweet liqueur. Mixed up with a bit of honey, lime juice and tequila, these tart, refreshing margaritas might not make it into the freezer. And I support that.
How to Make Popsicles Without a Mold
Don’t sweat it if you don’t have popsicle molds on hand when the craving strikes. You likely have plenty of fun shaped items perfect for making popsicles. Paper and plastic cups work perfectly (and are sometimes even easier than actual popsicle molds!). I also love using small yogurt containers, ice cube trays for mini popsicles, and even mini muffin tins.
If you’re anything like me and like a spicy (or even smoky) margarita, by all means use tequila’s sister, mezcal. I love mimicking a margarita‘s salty rim by dusting these popsicles with flaky sea salt or Tajín seasoning for a bit of color and heat, too!

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup fresh lime juice (from about 6 limes)
- 1 3/4 cups fresh orange juice
- 2 Tablespoons honey
- 1/2 cup silver tequila
Special equipment:
- popsicle molds, popsicle sticks
Instructions
- Whisk together the lime juice, orange juice, honey and tequila.
- Pour the liquid into the popsicle molds. Freeze the molds until the liquid begins to firm, about 2 hours, then insert the popsicle sticks. Continue freezing until the popsicles are solid, at least 10 hours. When ready to serve, run the molds under warm water to release the popsicles.
Kelly’s Notes:
- I’ve swapped fresh orange juice for the Triple Sec, but you can add a splash back in for the traditional booziness.
- I like my margaritas more sour than sweet, so feel free to up the agave nectar if you want a sweeter popsicle.

Awesome! Thanks so much, Myrie!
I loved this. But I am not familiar with agave nectar here. Can I use normal honey instead of that? Also can you suggest any non-alcoholic alternative for tequilla?
Totally love the idea of swapping orange juice with triple sec. It’s the only right way ;)
I’m thinking about doing these in icecube form for a girl’s afternoon/night punch…with some of the lime sherbet/citrus punch to add just a little kick! Though I’ll make some for myself, just have to remember which popsicles are mine, and not the kiddo friendly kind. :)
Thanks!
Great idea, Dora!
I want to make these all Summer long!!!
These look SO fantastic! And even though your site isn’t a diet-y one, I always still like seeing the occasional skinny recipe. It’s all about balance, right? =)
My husband just walked by while I was looking at these and said, “Um, ya, we are making those right now.” I agree. Hope you had a happy cinco de mayo!

These are totally speaking my language. Mmm. I would love to grab one of these and head to the beach to watch the sunset this summer.
This is a great summer treat that will help you still shed some pounds even when you are out and about.
haven’t made popsicles yet this year. these look fab!
Yes please! It’s getting a bit warm here in LA so these are definitely a must-make!

These are perfect for the summer weather we’re having! Can’t wait to make these this weekend!
I’m the same way Kelly, when it come to eating the calories rather than drinking them. Loving how refreshing these popsicles are to have for when the mommies and I have our get together while the kiddos are playing in the water! Pinning!

Absolutely delish idea for spring and summer, Kelly! I love margarita popsicles and have a watermelon margarita variation that you’ve gotta try! Thanks for sharing.

Woah sweet Mamma!
I definitely would rather eat my calories than drink them, which is why I drink so much water. Great popsicles though! There’s a restaurant that just opened in Memphis that makes boozy snocones and popsicles.
I’ll happily cheers to Cinco de Mayo with these!!

I used to love popcycles as a kid….as an adult, not so much. But I think these might make me love them again.
I am totally craving one of these babies right now! And crazy, but I have ALL the ingredients on hand. They’re just not frozen together in cute popsicles….yet.
