Add a spooky snack to your Halloween spread with a quick and easy recipe for Mini Bagel Mummy Pizzas.

It’s not a secret that Halloween is one of my favorite holidays to create recipes for, from classic Caramel Apples and Pumpkin Cupcakes to Frankenstein Marshmallow Pops and Graveyard Dirt Cups. Now it’s time to add a savory snack to the mix with a recipe for cheesy Mini Bagel Muffin Pizzas.

With just four ingredients, this recipe couldn’t be more simple to assemble. It’s so simple that it also happens to be the perfect activity for the tiniest of trick-or-treaters to assemble all on their own. Now that I have four (!) little ones, I am all about activities that do double duty as snacks!

My boys love spooning what they call “the blood sauce” atop the bagels and meticulously tear apart piece after piece of the string cheese, placing them ever so strategically to make the mummy faces.

This recipe is a great classroom activity for kids from preschool into grade school to get them in the Halloween spirit!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Superfast. Ready in just 10 minutes, these mummy pizza bagels will be ready nearly as quickly as you can say “Halloween.”
  • Minimal ingredients. Requiring just 4 ingredients (and they can all be store-bought!), these mini bagel pizzas couldn’t be easier to assemble.
  • Festive. The string cheese mummy wraps and black olive eyes make these spooky pizza bagels ideal for gobbling up while watching a Halloween flick.

Ingredients

  • Mini bagels: Plain mini bagels make up the base of these pizzas. You could use another bagel flavor (like everything) if you prefer.
  • Marinara sauce: Because you’ll be using just a ½ cup of sauce, store-bought marinara is a great shortcut. However, my 10-Minute Homemade Marinara Sauce is super easy to whip up, too.
  • String cheese: Sliced or shredded string cheese will make every mini bagel pizza look like it’s been wrapped up like a mummy.
  • Olives: Sliced black olives are an easy (and delicious) way to add eyes to each mummy pizza.

See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.

Substitutions

  • Make it mega. You can use full-size bagels (and more sauce and toppings!) if you’re feeding adults or bigger kiddos.
  • Swap in pizza sauce for the marinara. Either one will be delicious here!

How to Make Mini Bagel Mummy Pizzas

  1. Preheat the oven. Arrange an oven rack about 4 inches from the top of the broiler and preheat the oven, setting it to “broil.” Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Add and top the bagels. Add the mini bagel halves to the baking sheet, then divide the sauce amongst the bagels (spreading it into an even layer on each bagel). Then arrange the cheese atop the sauce in diagonal lines and place two black olive slices next to each other on top of the cheese to create the eyes.

  1. Broil. Broil the bagels until the cheese is melted and the bagels are lightly toasted (3 to 5 minutes). Let cool slightly before serving.

Kelly’s Recipe Tips

  • Make It Extra Cheesy: Because cheese is so delicious, I sometimes like to sprinkle these with grated Parmesan after they’ve come out of the oven.
  • Be Mindful of the Broiler:  It’s important to place your bagels far enough away from the broiler to avoid the bread or ingredients burning before the cheese melts.
  • Prepping the String Cheese: You’ll want to slice or shred the string cheese (using your hands to pull apart the cheese is totally fine). Just be mindful to make the cheese pieces no larger than the mini bagels.

Storage and Freezer Tips

These will last in the fridge (stored in an airtight container) for up to 5 days.

You can also stash baked, leftover mummy pizza bagels in the freezer. Just reheat the bagels in a 350°F oven until warmed through (about 10 minutes).
